Worship and education

Our community of faith gathers for worship on Saturdays at 5:00 pm and on Sundays at 8:00 and 9:30am.

Come as you are, whether it's in jeans or a suit. Either way, you are welcome! Worship styles alternate weekly between traditional and contemporary music; we do our best to offer something for everyone.

All children are welcome at worship!

Sunday school for preschool through 5th grade children takes place during the 9:30 am Sunday service from September through May. Children begin in worship with their families and are dismissed to classrooms following the children's message. A nursery for children five years of age and younger is provided during the 9:30 am services on Sunday morning. There is also a quiet room in the back of the sanctuary.

Messiah’s New Worship Schedule

Starting on May 28, Messiah will worship on a new schedule. Developed through a process of study and conversation, this schedule will help Messiah to:

  • experience stronger and more meaningful worship at all services
  • celebrate Holy Communion at every service each week, and
  • enhance opportunities for adult education.
  • Saturday at 5 p.m. will continue as an intimate, casual service in Luther Center. On Sunday we will have two services, an 8:00 a.m. service and a 9:30 a.m. service. Sunday School will take place during the 9:30 service. Learning opportunities, Adult Forums, and special events will be held periodically at 10:45. Nursery care will continue to be available before and during the 9:30 service and, when scheduled, during special events that follow.

It’s not easy to change worship times, as we are asking every Sunday worshiper to do. In setting this new schedule we surveyed the congregation, held open meetings and discussions with ministry leaders, and looked to other congregations for their experiences. We looked carefully at the priorities and preferences expressed by Messiah worshipers. And now we are excited to strengthen our worship and our community life by bringing our Sunday congregation together in this way.
